Think Tank Methods

There are several different types of methods that are used when it comes to decision making but there is no one fits all with these methods. The Delphi Technique is a group decision-making process that focuses on individuals that are in different locations. This specifically works well with the different applications that are now being incorporated within the different companies. Google docs are one that is widely used within our corporation. The docs that are used allow for the members of our team to work within the same document at the same time making real-time changes.

Brainstorming and Nominal group technique or (NGT) are a couple of the other techniques that are being used within groups to come to a successful conclusion. Brainstorming is as the name mentions is where the ideas are bounced off of one another and used as they are being thrown out, while NGT is the use of your own ideas and allows for the thoughts from everyone. NGT is one of the ways that groups do use more than others is it is more of the way that we are taught to do things no matter where it is we learned or grew up at. Voting for the decision gives the group the satisfaction that the one agreement that is decided upon is not biased as it is from multiple members and has been decided on as a group.

Each method serves a purpose to fit the needs of the employee or user today. Finding that there are more and more people working from home as the new norm, the Delphi technique will be a technique that will be used as there are many that are not in the offices but need to be part of the come together by adding on to what is there. Delphi technique also focuses on each person’s ideas as well as has the entire group participate. These contributions may be provided in numerous ways, such as e-mail, Google docs, or online in a discussion board, and even online. After each stage in the process, other group members ask questions, and alternatives are ranked or rated in a way that will bring the more useful ideas to the group discussion in which they will eventually conclude what is needed.
